Researchers have long been interested in the life and work of the theologian, but most of the letters rL main under seal at Harvard. on Wedemeyer‐Weller gave no reason pnblicly for her decision to have the papers released. The letters, which were not to ne released for 25’ years without her permission, were written from prison by her fiance, Dietrich Bonhoeffer, and were known as the “Letters and Papers From Prison.” Limited portions of some of the letters were published in 1967 by the Union Theological Seminary. ![]() She was 53 years old and lived in Lincoln, Mass. ![]() ![]() Maria von Wedemeyer‐Weller, wno in 1967 gave to Harvard University letters from an anti‐Nazi theologian hanged in 1945 for his role in a plot against Hitler, died yesterday of cancer in Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. ![]()
